Class Information

• Open Book Multiple Choice Written Exam

• Class Duration: 1 Day including the exam and proficiency

• Allowed 2 hours to complete the Written Exam

• Proficiency Exam where examinee must correctly demonstrate skills in measurement of surface tolerance, cross slope, tack coat spread rate, and asphalt mix spread rate. Each trainee will be given two chances to pass each proficiency test.

Course Objective:
To assure that all test results that are used for quality control, verification, dispute resolution and acceptance of asphalt mixtures are performed in accordance with the Standard Test Methods so that the test results reflect the actual characteristics of asphalt and whether specifications are met.

• Tack Coat and Mix Spread Rate

• Rolling Straight-edge

• Demonstrate proficiency for cross-slope and straight-edging

Initial Qualification Requirements

• Must pass the Asphalt Paving Level 1 written exam

• Must pass the Asphalt Paving Level 1 proficiency exam

Re-Certification Qualification Requirements

• Must pass the Asphalt Paving Level 1 written exam

• Must pass the Asphalt Paving Level 1 proficiency exam

• Your Asphalt Paving Level 1 qualification is automatically re-qualified with a passing Asphalt Paving Level 2 test
